Photos with red eyes are caused by the reflection of red color of blood
in the eye. The natural black color of eye lenses is almost lost through
the effect of the red eye. Pictures and images with red eyes of
people or shining eyes of animals often look scary, demoniacal and
unattractive. Gimp is a good software to retouch, correct or
remove red eyes in a photo, image and picture.
Click on the Gimp's paintbrush tool
twice and set it's mode to color.
Choose a fuzzy brush with a right size for the eyes that you retouch. Paint with a black color on the red eyes to bleach the red color. Keep the mouse key pressed while you paint to avoid loss of details in already painted spots.
Set the mode of paintbrush to overlay.
Paint with a black color on the already bleached red eyes to make the eyes shine in natural black again. Keep the mouse key pressed while you paint to avoid loss of details in already painted spots of the image.
